Wisconsin Music Therapy Registry
In 1998, Wisconsin became the first state to formally recognize music therapy as a profession through legislation. The Wisconsin Music/Art/Dance Therapy Registry is the result of legislation which ensures that the public has access to these therapies by qualified professionals trained specifically in these fields. It is a title protection act. No one may use the title Wisconsin Music Therapist – Registered (WMTR) unless they are registered with the state of Wisconsin.
Registration with the State of Wisconsin is not required by law, however offers protection to consumers and music therapists. Wondering if WMTR is for you? Keep in mind, an increased number of MT-BCs with WMTR credentials is an important step in pursuing Licensure in Wisconsin – so we recommend applying! The current cost is $51, due on September 30th in odd numbered years.
