Melissa Dixon named Activity Director of the Year
Melissa Dixon has been given the Award of Excellence by the Wisconsin Representatives of Activity Professionals. Melissa was nominated by the Chippewa Valley Area of Activity Professionals, where she serves as President. Her regional association wrote, “Melissa is self-motivated, positive, encouraging and leads by example. She encourages new Activity Professionals to join the journey of what a true Activity Professional is and models this to those newer in the field. Melissa has worked as an Activity Professional for 16 years and brings along a music background since she is also a Music Therapist. Melissa’s administrator shares, “She has proven herself by exhibiting a refreshing approach to resident care and her dedication to her profession was apparent immediately. He also stated, “Under her directorship, the activity department has been an integral component of our success in providing excellent hospital and nursing home care to our patients and residents.
Melissa is the Activity Director and Volunteer Coordinator at the Rusk County Nursing Home in Ladysmith. She also serves as the Vice President for the Wisconsin Representatives of Activity Professionals, the State Contact for the National Association of Activity Professionals and is a member of the Wisconsin Chapter for Music Therapy. She resides in Holcombe with her husband, Jon, and their children, Ellie and Carter.
